January 9: Alex has been keenly interested in role-playing games for a while, and about a year ago he and I started playing some Dungeons and Dragons one-on-one. Here he is preparing to DM the latest "chapter" in his campaign.

Latest Update: Nathan

January 10: Nathan came home from the hospital on New Year's Eve day. Dr. Murphy in Modesto released him "early" on the condition that we continue to monitor Nathan's blood sugar level at home. This meant I had to prick his heal twice a day for the first couple of days, and then once a day for about three days more, to draw blood and put it through one of those little testers like diabetics use. Not fun, either for me or Nathan, but at least he's home.

Latest Update: Me

February 16: I'm teaching a computer class in Alex's school, together with one of the other dads. Norm does the core programming part of the class (they're learning C this year), and I'm doing web design. I'm actually proud of the last lesson I did for them: an example of using frames and Javascript to create an interactive site that maintains state entirely on the client side.

January 18: I really need to update the "work" section of this site to reflect my latest endeavor. Somehow with the new baby and all, I just haven't had time.
